I have repeatedly asked for guidance about my parents. I’ve spent a good chunk of my self examination on their influence on me, and what I thought they did wrong. Once, while seeking guidance about ‘why’, the response I heard went something like this:
People can only give you what they have.
Growing up, your parents could never have taken ‘better’ care of you than the care they did take. They could have only taken the exact kind of care of you that they did, given the resources they had, and what they had to offer. That is who they are. And who they are is not a bad thing, it is not the enemy.
If fact, they were only supposed to do what they did and be exactly who they were. Who they were was important (if not divine) in shaping you as you are. Continue reading Re-Parenting | Self Responsibility
I just discovered Bikram Yoga back in February, and have to admit it has been life changing. If you are in good physical health, have medical clearance to exercise, and are interested in taking your relationship to your body and mind to a whole new level – find a Bikram Yoga class near you ASAP. The room is heated to 105-135 degrees, so this class is not for the faint at heart. Below are a few pics of the poses that make up the 90 minute class. It is amazing how many positive physiological benefits are packed into a single class experience.
The personal benefits that I have experienced include clear complexion, loss of body fat, reduced inflammation in my face, stress reduction, increase in energy, increase in confidence, straighter posture, balanced and happier mood, increase in patience with self and others, improvement in my digestion as well as just overall feeling really content and comfortable in my skin. At a holiday party I met a guy who knew a ton about chinese herbs. I’m very new to the subject and am always drawn toward natural remedies for all of life’s ailments. When I described a few symptoms I was experiencing he right away pointed to a product that he was familiar with and noted that it had worked wonders for him and everyone he’d suggested it to.
Since it was around the holidays, and a new year was pending, many things were stressing me out and causing me to feel a tightening sensation around my throat and chest area. He and I agreed that is was general anxiety and that the herbs would be great at addressing a solution.
Open to anything that would ease my weary mind and body, I got onto the website to learn more. After reading for just a short while I was so taken by the company, the products and specifically the Bupleurum & Dragon Bone the guy referred me to that I not only ordered two products but also drove thirty minutes to downtown LA from the beach ( where I lived ) to pick them up the very same day.
