A girlfriend of mine posted a comment on my facebook wall yesterday that struck a cord in me, so I will take action and share my philosophy on it while it is still fresh…

She wrote:

” the harder someone tries to destroy me, the harder I will pray for their salvation ”

I have learned through my studies recently that underneath every behavior is a positive intention. Yes, Every Behavior. Even behaviors that seem ‘destructive’.

And I will say that in the past I can totally relate to being so consumed with the desire to see someone who I am in conflict with go away, forever, that I too have had destructive thoughts toward them and myself.

…Conflict seems so ‘uncivilized and base’ that we often can’t accept it. It’s like a secret deep part of us [maybe our spirit] knows better, and knows that the person we are in conflict with knows better too, and the fact that we are even having conflict at all is such a bummer [to our spirit] that the animal or base reaction within each of us is to destroy the situation and everyone involved…

Armed with the new knowledge that underneath every behavior is a positive intention, I got curious about my own occasional impatience and desire to “destroy” [as she says] others, and because I looked, I was given the gift of becoming aware of what was underneath for me.

The message I got was that I wanted to ‘evolve’ them.

That’s the truth of what I, and many of us, really deeply want when we become so frustrated and angered by another that we want to see them gone or ‘destroyed’. We want the consciousness that created the conflict destroyed. In ourselves and in them. This is often why conflict is so hard on us. Not exclusively because of how we feel we were hurt or wronged, but our own awareness of our failure to rise above the experience and live from our spirit.

Because conflict is felt so rapidly in the body, spirit often can not catch up in time to intervene before the body reacts with negativity and destructiveness.

Rather than actually wanting to destroy one another, I think that what we ctually want to see gone is:

1. The consciousness or behavior in them, and in us, that caused the conflict.

2. Our own failure to accept and honor the reality of disagreement without attaching to an outcome, and love ourself and the other person through it. In short, our failure to live from spirit.

By ‘destroying’ those things, everyone involved would EVOLVE.

Experience only holds the meaning that we assign to it. If you sense someone is trying to destroy you, take responsibility for the fact that you are assigning that specific meaning to their behavior, and underneath, they may deeply only want for you, their pain, and the moment to EVOLVE into something higher. It is likely that their spirit is struggling too.

……………………………………………………………………………………..

Catch me doing things right:

If you like what you’ve read here, forward this to your circle of friends, family and partner. The little icons below reveal many ways to share: facebook, twitter, linked In, email, and on and on…

And allow me to catch YOU doing things right too:

My girlfriend who made the comment was openly offering prayers to those who she experienced conflict with. I think this is a spirit gesture that we can all learn from. What do|can|will you do next time the electric tensions of conflict course through your veins? Share with us, you never know who you will be the teacher to when you share your spirits wisdom. COMMENT ↓

Last night I went to see a broadway musical with a friend. He had been given a couple of complimentary tickets from the production, so our seats were going to be a surprise. Once in the theatre we were directed to the stairs, and finally all the way up to the 3rd to last back row in the balcony of the theatre! Haha…

I was content, as the invitation came to me last minute, so I was just happy to be there. My friend was happy too, and he wanted to move. ” I think I’ll call my connection and request better seats ” he said. He hopped up with his cell phone in hand and returned about 5 minutes later with two new tickets for the main floor, center, 10 rows from stage. Basically, the best seats in the house! Haha… As we were hurrying down to our new spots he looked over his shoulder and said, ” Hey, guess it doesn’t hurt to ask! “

This morning as I reflected on the evening I was reminded how important it is to ASK. Asking for what you want is the act of considering yourself first, above all else, in a ecological way. My guy friend did not hesitate, he quickly considered his needs and his desires above all else. With no hesitation he asked, and he got what he wanted. Harmless!

I wondered… if I had been with a girlfriend, how the evening would have been different.

I have a feeling that a girlfriend would have considered the person who gave her the tickets above herself, not wanting to seem ungrateful or bother them by asking for more. We’ve all reached frustration through sacrificing what we need or want in hopes that the partner|job|friend|family in our lives will give us what we need and want AFTER we’ve taken care of them.

Sound familiar?

Self neglect happens when we focus on others above our self hoping that eventually they will focus on us. Not asking for what we need and want is a form of self neglect. It’s disempowering, and leads us down the slippery slope of frustration|resentment|victimization and so on.

Our success in life is directly proportionate to our ability to ask for help. To ask for what we need and desire.

We have inner desires|needs and it is our sole responsibility to tune into this and let it guide our actions and choices.

When we act on the guidance from our inner need|desire we strengthen our relationship to ourselves.

A healthy strong relationship to ourselves builds inner trust and honor.

Trusting and honoring ourselves allows us to articulate what we need.

Articulating what we need opens us up to receiving it.

Receiving what we need encourages us to continue to communicate effectively with the world around us.

Communicating effectively with the world improves our relationships to ourself and others. It’s a cycle that works beautifully when we commit to ASKING.

IT FEELS GREAT to say exactly what you want|need|desire with no hesitation! Catch yourself asking for what you need, especially for the small things cause speaking up for small things strengthens your ability to speak up for the bigger things.

Without being attached to the outcome, ALWAYS ASK.

Personal development is all about asking for help along life’s wonderfully complex journey of lessons, laughter, ups and downs. Can you relate to putting others first? Tell me how so below and if you need help breaking your routine of self neglect, just ask!

I have repeatedly asked for guidance about my parents. I’ve spent a good chunk of my self examination on their influence on me, and what I thought they did wrong. Once, while seeking guidance about ‘why’, the response I heard went something like this:

People can only give you what they have.

Growing up, your parents could never have taken ‘better’ care of you than the care they did take. They could have only taken the exact kind of care of you that they did, given the resources they had, and what they had to offer. That is who they are. And who they are is not a bad thing, it is not the enemy.

If fact, they were only supposed to do what they did and be exactly who they were. Who they were was important (if not divine) in shaping you as you are.

If you don’t like who you are, based on how you were raised, you are exactly right – your not supposed to! During the time you spend being ‘raised’ by others you were only to receive a limited amount. Now as an adult if you are unhappy and feeling half ‘raised’ by those who were not you, then kicked out into the world unprepared, it’s now time for you to step in and continue. Who better to raise you thanyou!? Continue the process of raising your self. Learning your self. Developing a relationship with your self. Discover your needs, likes, desires, hopes and aspirations. They are for no one else to bring forth. No matter what the scenario was growing up your full human experience and full humanity is your responsibility. No one else’s.

Now You are here to continue the job! And you can raise you exactly how you like! You get to explore the resources that you care to afforded yourself to develop into a matured human, no longer a child.

If have not embraced this opportunity to it’s fullest, and committed to a healing and growing routine for your life, it is likely that you are stuck in the past and fantasize about the future. All desires are just fantasized dreams until you take the steps toward making the things you want a reality. Where is your head now in regards to the life you want. Are you putting your focus on your life? Are you awake? Or are you spending your days daydreaming? Which is it?

Are you freeing the voice that is in your heart? It is vital for you to tune into the voice of your heart, so you may become aware of yourself and your unique human and spiritual needs. You have a heart and a voice – among other things, they are yours to tell the world around you what you need.

The purpose of being born is not to ‘become a career’ of lawyer, bus driver, doctor, chef. The purpose is to be born into our exact circumstances, and then overcome them. Finding meaning and purpose along that journey is Life. That is the only thing that the journey of life is about. Turning your life’s situation around so that you may find the blessings, the abundance and the divinity in it just as it is – and just exactly as you were raised. Acceptance.

Even the most affluent children have to overcome something of their own in order to find freedom, peace and happiness. The human condition is not reserved for the poor. Everyone has the same duty on Earth to find their own way.

Most of us hold on to the idea of things that did not happen ‘properly’ for us when we were being raised. There is really no point to this, because this only creates suffering. Make a conscious choice to focus on the positive aspects of life. If what we say we want is ‘happiness’ and we would have ‘happiness’ if things would have been ‘different’ or ‘better’ for us at some past time in our lives, this is only the ego|victim creating further avoidance of ourselves. The issue at hand is not the past. The issue at hand is that someone needs to take full responsibility for your happiness, your prosperity, your ideas, your thoughts, and that person is you.

No one is coming.

This duty is what you owe creation in exchange for your gift of life. In return for being given the chance to live you must fulfill your duty of developing yourself. This keeps the world in balance. It has always been up to us to take the job of developing ourselves. Beyond the first few years of being dependent and needing food and shelter and love to be provided, by design, the rest is literally up to us, the individual. Our parents can only take us so far, even in the best circumstances.

Life teaches us that at a point, we need to step in and take full charge of our whole self. This is a beautiful thing.

We are born with the power over our own self and our own happiness. You are the only person who knows what you want, need and what is best for you. Our parents don’t know this. How could they possibly know? They are not us.

You are your own person, and having experiences that fulfill you, nurture you and make you happy are yours to create.

Our power to create what we focus on is infinite. Know this in the depths of your core and guide your energy wisely. Notice where you put your energy in relation to self responsibility. You have two choices really. To bury your energy into the dead past ( creating suffering and distance- isolation ) or putting your energy into the image of a happy present and future with things, places and people that nurture you ( creating growth, peace and power ).

Look back, but don’t stare.

There is nothing to be learned from the past. There is plenty to be freed from it. That is all. There is only the present moment, and your individual emotional guidance system to lead you toward trusting in what you want, following things that lead to that and only that with a disciplined mind, and learning how to keep the energy around you positive.

………………………………………………

“Your success is directly related to how much you ask for help.”

Author’s note: I am here to help you in any way that I can, be it one-on-one consulting or by listening to what you need and making a referral to one of the many many healers and teachers that I have called on along my journey. Healers who, I know first hand, are amazingly supportive in transitioning individuals into thriving adults who enjoy taking responsibility for themselves and their lives.

Over the years of my journey I have called on many people & teachers for support, and have studied many age old [and some brand new] healing practices to guide me in overcoming my greatest limitations. Without the support of others I would not be the happy and productive person that I am today. Please call on me as your trusted resource. In addition to healers and teachers, I also know of some amazing retreats within the wellness community and I would be honored to point you in the right direction.

I just discovered Bikram Yoga back in February, and have to admit it has been life changing. If you are in good physical health, have medical clearance to exercise, and are interested in taking your relationship to your body and mind to a whole new level – find a Bikram Yoga class near you ASAP. The room is heated to 105-135 degrees, so this class is not for the faint at heart. Below are a few pics of the poses that make up the 90 minute class. It is amazing how many positive physiological benefits are packed into a single class experience.

The personal benefits that I have experienced include clear complexion, loss of body fat, reduced inflammation in my face, stress reduction, increase in energy, increase in confidence, straighter posture, balanced and happier mood, increase in patience with self and others, improvement in my digestion as well as just overall feeling really content and comfortable in my skin.

Although “wolfberries” can be obtained in Asian markets at a fraction of the cost, it is not recommended. “Wolf berries” have been detected to have excessively high levels of pesticide and fungicide levels leading the FDA to seize some imports. Vivapura ensures that the low-temperature dried (naturally in semi-shade) goji berries we provide are of the absolute highest quality and purity, exceeding the standards of many sources in the “raw food” market place.

Suggested Uses:

Blend into your smoothie as a whole-food sweetener, or stir-in whole for a chewy surprise.

Use as garnish for your favorite dessert recipes.

Add whole to your trail mix.

Add to your favorite granola recipe.

Enjoy as a vibrant snack!

Best kept unrefrigerated.

Ancient Amazon Heirloom Variety.

These raw, organic Wild Jungle Peanuts are the only non-toxic peanuts in the world (aflatoxin-free). They have a beauty and flavor far surpassing anything you’d ever find in mass-grown commercial peanuts. Enjoy the pure, rare, rich, aromatic and earthy flavor. Their skin features an astonishing almost purple-colored striation.

These unique organic, heirloom Wild Jungle Peanuts are cultivated in communities of the Achuar Indians who are indigenous to the Amazon basin in Southeast Ecuador. These ancient, heirloom nuts are planted by hand, in pristine, untouched conditions deep in the Amazon Jungle. They are hand harvested. As the Achuar’s territory contains no roads, these nuts are carried along trails by foot to a city where they can be shipped.

The Achuar have been less affected by outside influences and have experienced less cultural changes, retaining more of what we might consider a “traditional” lifestyle. The cultivation and selling of these wild jungle peanuts and other organic certified products represents the Achuar Indian’s only income.

Health Benefits:

100% free of aflatoxin – Aflatoxins are toxic substances made by molds. Unfortunately, aflatoxins on hybridized peanuts (all other peanuts produced in the world) are a consistent problem that creates “peanut allergies”.

Over 40% of the oils contained in this ancient peanut are oleic acid —an oil essential for heart health and smooth, beautiful skin.

26% protein (including amino acids like methionine)

A wide array of amino acids, including ALL 8 essential ones.

Contains arachidonic acid, a fatty acid typically found only in meat products.

These ancient peanuts also contain 13% of the DV for Calcium and 21% of the DV for Iron.

Suggested Uses:

Sprinkle ground or whole in salad or favorite dish.

Add whole to your trail mix.

Enjoy a handful mixed with Monukka Raisins.

Nut Paté: Combine ground peanuts with oil, spices and any other desired ingredients.

Wake Up Well is designed to teach you exactly that. How to wake up to a powerful wellness routine that becomes as natural to you

as brushing your teeth in the mornings. Truth is, there are steps that we need to take each morning, as important as personal hygiene, that determine how successful and balanced our day will be that no one teaches us. These steps are vital to our success throughout the day, to our enjoyment of our day and to how effective we will be. As we encounter others, in our relationship to ourselves, our inner balance and our daily goals depend deeply on how we step forth into the world. So much is effected by the how we spend the first hour of our day – it’s shocking that so few people know how to Wake Up Well.

Wake Up Well is taught one-on-one as a private class or in a group setting. We work together to custom tailor a routine for you that will support only what you want to create in your life right now. We will cover how to identify and dismiss distractions, become clear on your natural human purpose, re-connect to your value system, as well as undergo an overall balance and health assessment as we set goals and a wellness routine to move you into an effortless and powerful day.

** As a special bonus participants will receive a 10, 20 and 30 minute meditation timer. **
